Overview

Cruzar la Cara de la Luna

Embroidered with the ultimate symbol of migration, the Monarch butterfly, Cruzar la Cara de la Luna follows the two families of Laurentino (Daniel Noyola), a Mexican man who has moved to the United States to work, even though that means leaving behind his wife Renata (Cassandra Zoé Velasco) and son Rafael. Decades later, being cared for by his American son Mark (Efraín Solís) and granddaughter Diana (Lily Guerrero), Laurentino questions his true meaning of ‘family’ and ‘home’ after a life straddling two cultures. Austin Opera’s Curator for Hispanic & Latinx Programming Claudia Chapa makes her role debut as Lupita.
